Becoming a CommonSense Provider
LMHCs, LCSWs, and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are eligible.
ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY
Who we are
CommonSense is a family operated business, and administrative support is comprised of licensed folks (including LMHCs and an RN) as well as staff with experience in billing, insurance paneling, intake processes, and client outreach. Everyone on the administrative side, from the CEO to administrative assistants, engage in daily overhead services and processes. We take a team approach to provider support, and we are readily accessible to providers when questions and needs arise.
More broadly, we are a group of mental health providers including mental health counselors, social workers, and psychiatric nurse practitioners engaging in tele-health and in-person services within New York State. We cover various specialities and populations, and we welcome modalities and approaches offered to clients by our providers.
Our community
In addition to overhead services offered to all providers within our group, we work together via sharing resources, referrals, as well as general consultation. Providers are encouraged to engage in and maintain professional relationships with one another, and within a space where independent professional needs, goals, and boundaries are communicated and respected. To this end, our providers are always in control of their schedule, workload, and availability.
While our community is growing and we welcome new providers, we do require completion of a screening and on-boarding process that includes reference checks, a background check, as well as interviews meant to establish whether CommonSense and your practice are a good fit - among other requirements.
Our group works with vulnerable populations and communities, including disenfranchised groups who’ve historically been harmed within healthcare systems and settings. We strive to work with providers who demonstrate an awareness of such history and context, and who will support clients regardless of their identity, background, and lived experience.
What’s Included
Overhead coverage
CommonSense covers private practice overhead needs, including billing services (paneling, claim submission, and payment collection), EHR platform, intake support, tele-video and phone services, as well as office space (within the capital region).
Independence within community
CommonSense is a cooperation of private practices supporting each other via mutually shared services, resources, and consultation. We believe in fostering private practice growth, while recognizing that (at least for many of us) we cannot do it alone, or don’t want to.
Fair provider reimbursement
We’ve taken measures to keep overhead costs low, which means higher provider reimbursement. This includes our owner and senior management team taking home below-average pay for our labor. We believe effective client care starts from the bottom up, which means providers walk away with the majority of CommonSense’s revenue.
