Our Rural Clients. 

Counties across New York State, especially those considered rural and away from urban districts and cities, often lack mental health and substance use treatment resources. While some towns and communities have developed solid treatment networks, many individuals in these areas lack transportation and other means of getting to brick and mortar therapy.

A lack of mental health resources in these communities impacts all rural individuals, however those navigating the opioid epidemic, substance use disorders, as well as clients of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and other minorities are at an even greater disadvantage. Our phone and video-conference sessions allow for direct communication with trained counselors and clients are able to engage in therapy from home.

Additionally, our messaging plans serve as a great option for clients looking to engage in long-term therapy in a discrete, convenient and accessible way. We believe that by allowing clients to engage with a therapist via text message we reach younger generations, clients who might not otherwise stick with therapy, and individuals who might not otherwise try in-person therapy at all.

Clients Identifying as LGBTQ+

While New York State offers resources and affirmative therapy for individuals identifying as LGBTQ+, such services are often limited and only accessible in certain areas and cities. Our practice envisions a time when all LGBTQ+ individuals within New York State have access to mental health and substance-use services, where availability and accessibility are no longer barriers.

Our phone and video sessions allow clients to engage in therapy from anywhere in NYS, which ensures clients can seek affirmation in their identity and support in facing external social stressors from wherever they are as long as they are in the state.

Clients Navigating Substance-Use Disorders.

New York State, along with the rest of the country and many parts of the world, is struggling to support individuals facing substance use disorders and other mental health issues as we face opioid use, overdose, and death from substance use disorders at rates not seen since previous health crises and epidemics. 

While in-person services and therapy will remain a crucial force and support for clients, we seek to provide more flexible and personalized counseling that allows clients to engage with a trained therapist when they need it most. Moreover, our messaging plans assist clients in tackling substance use in a long-term, cost effective and discrete way.
