Emma Cranston Blundell is a mental health counselor based in Albany, NY. Monika Ostrowidzki, LMHC, Psychotherapist

Monika is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who believes in an acceptance-based, skill-building approach. While working in a community mental health agency in Upstate, NY she has had the opportunity to engage with clients of all ages and concerns ranging from anxiety, depression, substance abuse, identity development, complex trauma and more. Through this work she has become very familiar with the tough balance many individuals face between work, life, and one’s self.

Through an empathetic and (if you ask her) humorous style she works with her clients on healthily processing the good and bad of life; developing adaptive thought patterns, as well as building skills in mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance. She has adopted the use of multiple evidence-based orientations including Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Rogerian as well as Acceptance and Commitment-based approaches to most effectively help clients enhance and improve their overall well-being.

Monika assists clients in working towards their goals, regardless of where they’re starting. She provides clients an atmosphere where they can authentically be themselves while encouraged to do what works. Within her practice an integral part of therapy is to learn what works for you.

When she’s not practicing psychotherapy, Monika enjoys travel, trivia, and old movies.

Ashley Whiteside, LMSW, Psychotherapist

Ashley is a healer of self and others and lover of humanity. She believes that choosing to heal is a radical act of self-love. Once we take the time to learn and heal ourselves and our wounds we can emerge toward collective empowerment. She is a trained Social Worker currently working in day treatment with youth in a school setting who have mental health and developmental disabilities. Ashley has experience working with diverse populations but her main focus is supporting the needs of girls, women, and communities of color. She is fueled by her passion to help black and brown girls and women to achieve their dreams through education. She believes that education in any form is the gateway to creating a full life that can lift families and future generations out of poverty and struggle.

Ashley considers herself a “student of life” consistently learning from the world around her. She works with others to rediscover, redefine, and effectively utilize their power to live a fulfilling life through education, awareness, discovery of self, and accountability. She works with individuals to recognize their multi-faceted nature and show compassion to each version of themselves.

In her spare time, Ashley enjoys taking adventures in new places, being out in nature, and reading good books.

Kathleen Hoffman, LCSW-R, Psychotherapist

Kathleen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and graduated with her Master's Degree in Social Work from The State University of Albany in 1994. Since that time, Kathleen has worked extensively with both inpatient and outpatient clients in a variety of mental health settings.

Seeing the benefits of healing the mind, Kathleen pursued healing the body as well and became a Licensed Massage Therapist from the Center of Natural Wellness in 2002.

For the past 8 years, Kathleen has had a special interest in working with clients who have had a traumatic past because of their childhood, occupation or military experience. In 2016 Kathleen  obtained Certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing or EMDR. an evidence-based treatment for trauma.

Since 2018, Kathleen has had the privilege of working with the Headstrong Project,  a non-profit agency based out of Weill-Cornell Medical Center. The Headstrong Project provides services to post-9/11 military men and women who have experienced a traumatic event(s) while in the military. The cornerstone of treatment is EMDR. Susan Mackert, LCSW, Psychotherapist

Suzie is a licensed clinical social worker who is always learning; about herself, human nature, the world, and beyond. Through this knowledge, she blends multiple approaches that all aim to move people closer to wholeness and connection with their truest selves. She includes use of body-based/somatic techniques, mindfulness skills, assertiveness and communication skills, positive psychology, neuroscience principles, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and attachment theory.

Through serving at a community mental health center over the past several years, Suzie has worked with individuals from a variety of populations, often presenting with concerns related to complex trauma, anxiety, depression, communication, relationships, identity, transitions, and parenting, among other common struggles. Something she has found to be essential for lasting growth is learning to hold and view oneself, along with one’s emotional and internal experiences, with an attitude of kindness, curiosity, and compassion. Upon this bedrock, with commitment and consistency, one can build their ideal life, both within and without.
